Borneo Akademika Publication Ethics

Borneo Akademika (BA) is committed to publishing original work and upholding fair treatment of all submissions. Submissions that have been published elsewhere will be rejected. Likewise, manuscripts that are similar to published work will be considered plagiarised work and will be rejected without review. As part of the submission process, you must warrant that you are submitting the work for first publication. BA upholds academic integrity, and authors are encouraged to refer to the Committee on Publication Ethics - International Standards for Authors.

Borneo Akademika’s Open Access Policy

Articles published in Borneo Akademika are open-access, and the research outputs and knowledge can be read and shared.

Ethics Statements

Editor Ethics

  1. 1. Editors should ensurethateditorial decisionsare fair and unbiased.
  2. 2. Editors should ensure that the editorial process is transparent.
  3. 3. Editors should consider objectively monitoring the performance of peer reviewers and the editorial team.
  4. 4. Editors should encourage peer reviewers to identify if they have a conflict of interest with the manuscripts they are asked to review.
  5. 5. Editors have the right to publish article retractions if work is found fraudulent or when editors suspect misconduct.

Reviewer Ethics

  1. 1. Reviewers should only agree to review manuscripts in which they have expertise.
  2. 2. Information provided should be professional and accurately represent their expertise.
  3. 3. Reviewers’ comments ought to be objective and constructive.
  4. 4. Reviewers should make sure that they reviewpromptly.
  5. 5. Details of the manuscript should always be kept confidential.
  6. 6. Reviewers should declare if they have a conflict of interest with the manuscript they are asked to review.

Author Ethics

  1. 1. BA views plagiarism or self-plagiarism as severe offences. Authors will be subjected to a suspension or ban on future submissions when plagiarism is detected.
  2. 2. There should be no more than six authors in an article. Authors can legitimately claim authorship when they have significant contributions to the work.
  3. 3. Authors are responsible for notifying the editorial board should their authorship change during the submission or revision. The editorial board does not accept authorship changes after the acceptance is issued.
  4. 4. Papers that are not within the scope of BA or do not meet the standard requirement for a journal article will be rejected.
  5. 5. Authors must adhere to APA 7th edition style for citations and reporting of the results.
  6. 6. Research funders or other sources of support for publications should be acknowledged in the manuscript.
  7. 7. Listing individuals’ contributions to the work is necessary. Authors are to submit a short description of all contributions to their manuscript. Authors should briefly describe their contributions.
